The Kick-off Meeting of the CYAO project will be holding on October 3, 2017 from 9.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. in the Auditorium of the CNR Research Area, Via Alfonso Corti 12, Milano.
The CYAO project aims at improving the biomass productivity of photosynthetic organisms (cyanobacteria) grown in photobioreactors and at producing an economically attractive added-value product, to be employed as bio-colourant in aquaculture. Waste valorisation is not a part of the project, but a fundamental aspect to reduce the environmental impact and to improve algal plant economic viability.
The research is founded by Fondazione Cariplo and involves three laboratories of the National Research Council of Italy, from the Institute of Biophysics, the Institute of Agricultural Biology and Biotechnology, the Institute for Water Research (previously, Institute for the Study of Ecosystems, ISE) and one research group from the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Institute of Microbiology, based in Trebon (Centre Algatech).
