Research interests

• Use of animal models (of hepatic steatosis, diabetes) for the evaluation of the anti-steatotic and hypoglycemic effects of nutraceuticals, through molecular biology, biochemical analyses and histopathological evaluation.
• Evaluation of the effect of exogenous substances (natural or synthetic) in vivo (mouse and rat) on the enzymatic system of drug metabolism (P450, phase II, antioxidants), glucose, lipid, cholesterol, bile acid metabolisms and intracellular pathways through assays of enzymatic activity and gene and protein expression analyzes.
• Evaluation of histopathological samples through immunohistochemical techniques and molecular biology analyzes.
• Nutritional studies on the main and secondary bioactive components of foods, and evaluation of the antioxidant power of nutraceuticals
• Characterization and treatment of cell lines for the evaluation of the protective / toxic capacities of environmental pollutants, natural substances and of agri-food interest.
